Brad Pitt Gets Candid About His Years In AA Getting Sober

When his highly publicized marriage with Angelina Jolie crumbled, it was like a wake-up call for Brad Pitt who just knew he needed a positive change in his life. That being said, after the actress filed for divorce, he spent years in Alcoholics Anonymous, trying his best to get rid of his addiction issue.

As you may remember, back in 2016 when the marriage came to an end, reports were going around that the last straw for Jolie was the two of them fighting over his drinking while on a private plane.

Now, the actor’s opening up about his sobriety, telling The New York Times that he’s really committed to it: ‘I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges. You had all of these men sitting around and being open and honest in a way that I have never heard. It was a safe space where there was very little judgment, and therefore little judgment of yourself.’

According to Brad, after Angie filed for divorce, he spent the following year and a half in AA meetings.

There was a real bond between the men there and as it turns out, none of them ever exposed the things he revealed to the press.

‘It was actually really freeing just to expose the ugly sides of yourself. There’s great value in that.’

This is not the first time the actor talks about his drinking problem.

Back in 2017, during another interview, this time for GQ Magazine, he shared: ‘Personally, I cannot remember a day since I got out of college when I was not boozing or just had a spliff, or something. And you realize that a lot of it is, um—cigarettes, you know, pacifiers. And I am running from feelings.’
